New iPhone app puts 32,000 works of art in your pocket

Intuitive user experience and rich art interactivity bought to the masses free courtesy of one of the world’s standard-bearing art institutions. Launched last week this new app is (for want of a better word) phat! View the collection, send images as postcards, read artists bios, see what events are coming up, select a tune from your itunes to listen to at the same time.

I mean there’s nothing too mind-bogglingly clever, it’s just that he makes things friendly, simple and open. Simultaneously making high fashion more interesting and leading the way in terms of global marketing that works across continents. Lush, lush, lush.

Louis Vuitton Young Arts Project

I’m following Louis Vuitton’s increasingly prominent and frequent art collaborations with interest. Along with their high profile partnerships with the likes of Ofili, they’re looking at immersing themselves in the visual arts from a grass roots level too.

Their Young Arts Project is a 3-year long collaboration with Hayward Gallery (I love the Hayward!!), the South London Gallery, Tate Britain and the Whitechapel Gallery. 30 young people aged 13-25 get the chance to get hands-on with the creative arts.

First impressions are that the projects aims are to break down the barriers between visual arts and audience by getting young people involved in the creation and sharing of art. Nice.
