HiBrow: New Culture Website

HiBrow is a website launched this week that curates HD videos of top-notch art. With over 10 hours of video content uploaded weekly, it’s comparable to a TED or YouTube focused on the arts. Founded by Don Boyd, a UK-based filmmaker, the home page offers selections for visual art (paintings and sculptures), music, literature, theatre, dance and cinema.

Nice idea and I hope they do well but it’s disappointing to see yet another visual arts digital launch that delivers a poor user experience and truly uninspiring web design. I long for a day when founders of these companies will employ people with the RIGHT skills to let their projects sing. Cash can’t be used as an excuse, you can still be brilliant on a small budget. It’s so frustrating seeing substandard, poorly executed work out there. People’s expectations of the digital experience are high, why disappoint them so? But good on them for getting out there with this idea.
